The Ford Escort is a small family car that was manufactured from 1968 to 2004 and was produced in six different model derivatives. The fourth version of the Ford Escort was launched in March 1986, with only a small number of changes over its predecessor. Optional new features included a mechanical anti‐lock braking system, a fuel computer on fuel-injected models, and a heated windscreen. These changes were welcome at a time when the Escort was faced with a host of new competitors; General Motors had brought out a new version of the Vauxhall Astra 18 months earlier, shortly after Volkswagen had introduced the Mk. II Golf.
As well as an all-new interior, a new derivative of the CVH engine was introduced, as well as numerous suspension tweaks to address criticisms of the Escort's handling and ride quality.
This desirable Ford hatchback was originally registered at the end of October 1989 and presents well in the popular colour combination of black coachwork with a contrasting grey cloth trim and red coachlines. The look is enhanced with alloy wheels, front fog lights and a desirable factory fitted glass sunroof. Both the paintwork and the trim appear in good order. Offered to auction with a V5C registration document, various bills and receipts and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2025.
