Few cars encapsulate the spirit and charm of Italian motoring like the Fiat 500. Introduced in 1957 as Italy’s affordable people’s car, the tiny Cinquecento became a cultural icon - compact, characterful, and brimming with style. The later Lusso (Luxury) variant brought a touch of refinement to the interior, while Abarth’s famed performance upgrades transformed the 500 into a spirited, competition-inspired machine.

Originally registered in 1972 in Italy and imported to the UK in 2014, this Fiat 500L Abarth has been restored to an exceptionally high standard. Presented with an eye-catching blue exterior and a leather and cloth interior, walnut dash, and new convertible roof, it sits on its original wheels, offering the perfect blend of authenticity and upgraded performance.

Between June 2023 and March 2024, the car underwent a comprehensive bare-shell restoration and rebuild by Toto at Ricambi, one of the UK’s most respected Fiat 500 specialists. The work included a new bulkhead and floor pan, new carpets and dashboard, fresh convertible roof, and a complete professional respray. The total cost of the restoration exceeded £10,000, with a full set of invoices and photographic documentation as evidence of the work.

In July 2025, a brand new 700cc engine was installed, providing a significant performance uplift while maintaining the car’s original character. With only 350 miles covered since completion, the car remains in ‘as-new’ mechanical condition, with no service yet due. The Fiat has also enjoyed a touch of the spotlight - winning ‘Car of the Day’ at the prestigious Shelsley Walsh Speed Hill Climb, a testament to its quality, presentation, and the admiration it inspires among enthusiasts.

Part of a private collection stored in a heated garage, this 500L Abarth has been carefully stored and enjoyed sparingly, ensuring it presents in excellent condition throughout. All systems are reported to operate exactly as they should, from electrics to instruments, making it a delight to both drive and display. The car comes complete with a comprehensive history file, including invoices, restoration photographs, and full documentation of the rebuild and engine installation, providing a detailed record of its transformation. A truly exceptional classic Fiat 500, ideal for show displays, leisurely touring, or as the centrepiece of a collection and it represents one of the finest and most engaging examples of its type available today.
