Pulling at enthusiasts’ heartstrings and sense of nostalgia, Ferrari unveiled the new 550 Maranello in 1996 to great fanfare. Reviving its fabled line of two-seater, front-engined V-12 grand tourers, these were the cars that earned Ferrari the enviable reputation that the company has today, equally comfortable on the racetrack or traversing across Europe at high speed.

Six years later, Ferrari introduced the 575M Maranello. The car brought with it a host of updates, making an already incredible car even more potent. Increasing the displacement of the V-12 by 250 cc brought a healthy increase in power and torque, resulting in a top speed of 202 mph. The front end was revised with updated headlights and a restyled air intake and front spoiler. Weight distribution was improved to a perfect 50/50. To help handle the increased performance, the 575M was also fitted with larger disc brakes. Inside, the interior was modernized and refreshed with an updated dashboard, trim, and steering wheel, among other updates.

While the 550 Maranello was only available with a six-speed manual transmission, Ferrari offered its new F1-style gearbox on the 575M Maranello as an option. This proved to be hugely popular, as a vast majority of cars were equipped as such, save for a handful of examples that retained their now hugely collectable gated six-speed manual transmission. Offered here is one such example. Delivered new to Cauley Ferrari of West Bloomfield, Michigan, in May 2002, the car was originally finished in the very attractive color combination of Blue Tour de France over a Cuoio leather interior with contrasting blue piping and matching Cuoio Daytona-style seat inserts over dark blue carpeting.

Sold new to its first owner the following month, the car was purchased by its second owner in 2008 and subsequently imported to Canada. Changing hands again in November 2009 and in the spring of 2013, the car was reimported into the U.S. with its fifth owner in March 2016 and has been housed in his collection of sports cars in Southern California since.

Having been driven just 4,524 miles from new, it goes without saying that the car presents exceptionally well both inside and out. It is currently fitted with an aftermarket exhaust system, though the original set is included with the car. Furthermore, the Ferrari retains its original books and pouch, tool set, spare keys, and Ferrari car cover. For the enthusiast looking to channel the nostalgia of Ferrari’s most iconic Enzo-era models but looking to retain the modern conveniences of a 21st century automobile, there is no better choice.
