Delivered new on December 12, 2002 through Ferrari North America to Ferrari of Ontario, this 2002 Ferrari 575M Maranello has travelled just 152 miles and remains in exquisitely fresh condition. Unveiled in July 1996 at Germany’s fabled Nürburgring, the 550 Maranello line of V-12 powered front-engined road cars heralded a surprising reversal from the well-established lineage of mid-engine flagship Ferraris that began with the Berlinetta Boxer and continued in the Testarossa.
Most surprising of all was the Maranello’s performance, which outpaced the mid-engined Testarossa in every respect while giving its passengers the luxuries of refined yet exciting styling and premium interior accommodations. It did not take long for the motoring press and buyers alike to signal their acceptance of the return to the traditional blueprint of sensuous styling, a willing V-12 and two seats on a shortened 2+2 chassis. In 2002 Ferrari made further refinements to the formula, introducing the 575M Maranello.
The “M” designation, standing for “Modificata”, denoted the new model’s increase in displacement from 5.5L to 5.7 with a resulting increase in power from 485 to 515 HP, larger vented and cross-drilled disc brakes and ideal 50/50 weight distribution. A new adaptive suspension minimized pitch during gear changes, which were now actuated with paddle shifters operating Ferrari’s lightning-quick new semi-automatic “F1” gearbox, the first in a Ferrari road car. Pininfarina contributed to the 575M’s refinements with better underbody sculpting, new, more aggressive looking integrated headlights and improved seating. The instrument cluster was also redesigned to maximize driver control.
In addition to its low mileage and pristine presentation, this exceptional 575M boasts the special Fiorano handling package, carbon ceramic disc brakes with Yellow painted brake calipers, lightweight alloy wheels, limited slip differential, cloisonné Scuderia fender shields and optional competition-style carbon fiber and leather seats. Classically cloaked in Rosso Corsa with a Black leather interior and incorporating power windows, locks, seats and mirrors, it is offered complete with spare keys and the books and tools.
