A dazzling successor to the iconic 458 Italia, the 488 was unveiled in 2015 and set a new bar for V-8 performance for Ferrari. Both its interior and exterior saw a refinement of an already stunning design while adding additional cutting-edge technology. Powering the 488 was a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, generating a formidable 661 horsepower. Improved aerodynamics increased downforce by 50% over the 458, with the help of variable flap geometry and scalloped side air intakes.

In 2018, Ferrari elevated the 488 lineage with the introduction of the Special Series 488 Pista. With design cues influenced by the track-only 488 GTE and 488 Challenge, the Pista is a lightweight marvel, shedding excess mass and gaining additional power. The same 488 V-8 engine now produced an awe-inspiring 710 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque—the most powerful V-8 in the marque’s history—propelling the 488 Pista to 60 mph in a mere 2.85 seconds.

Performance is further enhanced with Side-Slip Control (SSC 6.0) and Ferrari Dynamic Enhancer, a tech suite that improved brake feel under spirited driving by automatically modulating the car’s carbon ceramic brakes for greater control and predictability. Moreover, the front of the car incorporates the S-Duct, a Formula One-derived aerodynamic feature that increases downforce, a first for a roadgoing Ferrari.

Also released later that same year at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance was the 488 Pista Spider, a hardtop convertible variant that was also notable for being the 50th convertible model developed by the Ferrari marque. Exclusively offered to Ferrari’s most highly regarded clientele, the Pista Spider kept a lightweight spirit front of mind, with more than 200 pounds shed when compared to its 488 GTB brother.

This 488 Pista Spider was delivered new in June of 2020. Its sole owner, who is now offering the car, undertook the extensive Tailor Made specification process—which involved selection from an array of exclusive materials, colors, and finishes—allowing the creation of a car that is unmistakably bespoke. Designed to match the collectors previously delivered 488 Pista coupe, it displayed a staggering total list price of $686,602 CAD when new, with both Tailor Made selections and standard options working cohesively together to deliver a jaw-dropping final product.

The car’s exterior, inspired by Ferrari’s North American Racing Team (NART) livery used on previous 458 Speciale examples, is finished in Rosso Maranello and accented by a Grigio Abu Dhabi and Blu America center stripe livery. Lightweight carbon fiber wheels with matching center caps—the first in Ferrari’s history—further distinguish the specification, and pair well with the highly coveted, hand-painted dream lines which contrast the lower carbon fiber side skirts and rear diffuser; these dream lines are carried over to the carbon fiber shifter paddles as well.

Striping is continued onto the interior thanks to a Tailor Made three-part red/silver grey/red Ultrasuede center stripe on both carbon fiber sport seats. The seats and dashboard are trimmed in Nero Alcantara with red Ultrasuede inserts, with red stitching and a red Cavallino on the headrests providing additional contrast.

Mycroprestige, a highly durable technical material developed in partnership with NASA, is used in the lower portion of the cabin, including the rear wall and Tailor Made floor mats (which are themselves finished with a black Alcantara insert, red Ultrasuede edging, and red logo stitching).Further personalization comes by way of additional interior and exterior carbon fiber trim, including the front flaps, side air splitters, rear diffuser, B-pillar, engine cover, and a custom-designed sill plate, signed by Ferrari’s senior vice president of design, Flavio Manzoni. The very useful front suspension lift system was also specified on this 488 Pista Spider.

With such attention to detail put into the specification, it is no wonder this 488 Pista Spider has lived a pampered life post-delivery. Carefully stored in a climate-controlled garage, it would see minimal use; it has been reserved only for select events, such as Ferrari’s exclusive Cavalcade Riviera in Monte Carlo and Cavalcade International in Morocco, and it has been featured in

alongside its 488 Pista Coupe twin. At the time of cataloguing, just 2,568 kilometers (~1,596 miles) have been added to the odometer. A full coat of 3M clear film protects the car's entire exterior surface, as well as interior carbon fiber surfaces.

The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider represents the epitome of track-ready performance and represents a pinnacle in the Italian marque’s lineup. It is now accompanied by its original owner’s manuals, assembly photographs, car cover, scale model, and carbon fiber presentation case/humidor with key holder. This Tailor Made masterpiece, full of exclusive factory-ordered options and thought to be the only 488 Pista Spider specified to match its original owner’s Pista Coupe, will surely make an excellent addition to any

collection—especially if paired with its corresponding Tailor Made 488 Pista Coupe twin.
