An entirely new design and the successor to Ferrari’s brilliant F430, the 458 Italia debuted at the September 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show and immediately took place as the sportiest V-8 model in the Ferrari lineup. With edgy Pininfarina styling influenced by Enzo and Ferrari’s Millechili (one thousand kilogram) concept car of 2007, the 458 Italia incorporates Formula 1-derived technologies throughout and clearly benefits from the lessons learned on the race track. In particular, the 458 Italia’s cutting-edge aerodynamic package includes deformable aeroelastic winglets in the front grille that deploy at higher speeds, providing increased frontal downforce as required.
In Ferrari nomenclature, the 458 designation refers to the car’s 4.5L 8-cylinder engine, which is mid-rear-mounted and features Ferrari’s first direct fuel-injection system to produce 570 HP at 9,000 RPM, with peak torque reached at a useful 6,000 RPM. This performance is achieved while achieving reasonable fuel economy, and remarkably low carbon-dioxide emissions. Power is delivered by a dual-clutch, 7-speed gearbox, with acceleration from rest to 60 MPH in just 3.4 seconds en route to an advertised 201 MPH top speed.
With just 2,380 miles since new, this specimen was previously owned by professional boxer Manny Pacquiao, widely regarded as one of the greatest professional boxers of all time and the only fighter to win 12 major world titles in eight different weight divisions. Stunning in Grigio (gray) with Ferrari Scuderia shields on the front fenders, this 458 Italia’s many features include Brembo carbon ceramic disc brakes with yellow calipers. Based around an aluminum body shell and chassis, the 458 delivers awesome performance with its midmounted 4.5L/562 HP V-8 engine and 7-speed dual clutch F1 transmission with paddle shifters.
The Nero leather interior features yellow contrast stitching and, of course, the Ferrari Manettino steering wheel. Riding on forged 5-spoke wheels with Prancing Horse centers, this special 458 Italia comes with books and a car cover, and with such low mileage, it remains virtually as new and collector worthy.
