The Dodge Viper represented a purist combination of sports supercar and raw muscle car. Back in 2002, Dodge released the final models created under the GTS nameplate, and this car shows an odometer reading of only 522 miles since new. Indeed, its special interior tag denotes it as No. 12 of just 350 Final Edition GTS Coupes produced for the model year. The car here features what was then the most powerful rendering of the car’s special 8.0L V-10 engine, rated at 450 HP and 490 lb-ft of torque, more than enough to give a skilled driver and any willing rider a thrill ride like no other.

Underhood, red engine paint and a pair of long intakes feed the ominous port-design injection “snake pit,” which feeds into the underbody exhaust that rumbles to warn of its potential. The engine is followed up with a Tremec T56 6-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Vipers were hand-built at the Conner Avenue Assembly plant in Detroit and retained halo status throughout their production era. Retaining Final Edition notoriety remains, as the retired GTS name was replaced by the SRT-10 coupe, which debuted for the 2006 model year. The car is done in Viper Red with Stone White stripes, featuring the best of the SR-II series’ frame and suspension characteristics.

By 2002, the model had a significantly higher quality level than the first Viper roadsters of the 1990s, featuring black leather sport bucket seats, factory air conditioning, white-face gauges, a premium Alpine stereo system with CD player, and the special Viper-center steering wheel. The composite body featured functional aerodynamic panels, with names and emblems rendered directly into the material. Nonetheless, brightwork and chrome are still present, notably on the C-pillar mounted gas filler cap, rear-exit exhaust ports, Viper emblem surrounds and the six-lug polished 18-inch aluminum wheels. The latter retains wide Michelin tires to keep it glued down.

With its serialized console plaque and low mileage, this special Dodge is the type of vehicle one can buy to either preserve or simply go out and enjoy the ride.
