Advertised as the “Beauty Winner” and “Money Saving Dodge,” the midlevel Chrysler division featured wonderfully updated and streamlined design cues for 1936. The timing was perfect, with the new Dodge models proving highly popular with new car buyers as the American economy attempted a short-lived uptick. Introduced on November 2, 1935, the new Dodge model lines featured advanced, new, all-steel roof construction and sold strongly. Importantly, with its winning design language, reliable 6-cylinder powertrains and growing suite of passenger amenities and options, Dodge battled its way back to 4th place in American production rankings for 1936.
Ideally suited for traveling salesmen when new, this sleekly styled, close-coupled two-passenger Business Coupe is powered by a 217 CI inline 6-cylinder engine paired with a 3-speed manual transmission. This distinctive vehicle’s Dodge Blue paint is complemented by striking tan cloth upholstery featuring a painted wood-grain steel dash panel, a heater and a handsome, driver-centric instrument panel framing a large, Dodge-scripted speedometer. Other highlights include chrome bumpers with overriders, streamlined body-color headlight housings, a Ram radiator mascot, a vented hood, running boards, dual brake lights and amber driving lamps, plus body-color 16-inch artillery-style wheels.
Accompanying documents include a restoration photobook.
