There were a lot of changes for the Dodge Dart in 1970, and that included the restyled body shape and its new twin-scoop sport hood, both seen here. In fact, this was to be the final year this model was part of Dodge’s “Scat Pack” performance line, as the fastback Demon would supplant the 340 Dart hardtops in 1971. That makes no difference in this instance, however, since the car here is thoroughly redone for the modern era. It begins with its SRT 392 CI Gen 3 HEMI V-8 crate engine acquired from noted supplier Bouchillon Performance Engineering.

The engine is fitted into a custom bay and uses its OEM accessories for the most part, with ceramic-coated headers feeding into a fabricated, mandrel-bent, TIG-welded and ceramic-coated exhaust with Borla mufflers and resonators. Bouchillon Performance Engineering also supplied the car’s 545RFE automatic transmission, while the differential is a Chrysler 8.75-inch design with Sure Grip and 3.55:1 gears. The undercarriage has been reworked extensively, fitted with mini-tubs, power rack-and-pinion steering, a tubular front crossmember, A-arms with coilover suspension, welded-in subframe connectors, and front and rear sway bars.

The Wilwood 4-wheel disc brakes, working with a Wilwood Hydroboost master cylinder, slow it down. Covered in PPG Vibrance Collection Punaluu Stone for a gorgeous modern appeal, the bodywork and paint were executed by Tony Parker at Crown Works Garage. The posh interior here was created by Byron Robeck Jr. at Finish Line Interiors, and includes a hand-fabricated custom dash done in aluminum, the custom console with shifter and power controls, pushbutton engine start, Vintage Air, an Ididit tilt steering column, and a custom steering wheel. The car also features power seats, reworked door panels and a custom stereo with Bluetooth audio capability.

The crowning touch here is the wide Budnik wheels with Nitto NT555 G2 tires, which will help keep this Dart on the right path under power. Though the Dart represented the “budget vehicle” in the Dodge model line, in this instance, no expense has been spared to bring this Seventies-era classic back to life.
