For 1957, all Chryslers were redesigned to feature Virgil Exner’s second generation “Forward Look” design. A hefty $300 million was spent to re-design their cars for this model year. The ’57 New Yorker was low, sleek, had large fins, and had Torsion-Aire to improve handing and ride quality. Its styling was smooth, clean and tastefully fashioned to epitomize, in Exner’s words, ‘the new shape of motion’. Very few New Yorker Convertibles were made in 1957, the figure has been listed as only 1,049 examples, and they are obviously even rarer to see on the roads today.

This New Yorker Convertible available is unquestionably one of the nicest that will be available. It received a no-expense-spared, six-year restoration from its prior owner, the Blackhawk Collection, and is better than new. It is equipped with power steering, power brakes, wheel opening moldings, radio with rear speaker, dual antennas, FirePower Chrysler V-8 with a four-barrel carburetor, and has all correct detailing in the engine bay.

Originally this New Yorker was ordered in the same color of Saturn Blue that it wears today. The color combo suits the car very well and the paint is flawless. Recently, a new convertible top has been installed to make sure the car is perfect in every way. The odometer shows only 56,992 original miles and it presents as virtually new overall. The current owner purchased this vehicle from the Blackhawk Collection through The Auto Collections in Las Vegas and it has been sparingly used since. 1957 New Yorker Convertibles are exceptionally rare and to find one in pristine condition is even more unusual. It is ready for the show circuit or for use as a weekend car.
