Boasting Serial No. 2 and showing 1,357 miles on the odometer, this 2013 Chevrolet Corvette 60th Anniversary 427 Convertible is a stunning presentation in Artic White with silver striping contrasted by a Diamond Blue leather interior and Diamond Blue convertible top. It is optioned with dual zone air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity, power-operated top and six-way power driver’s seat, Bose Premium Audio, and a tilt steering column. In commemoration of both Corvette’s 60th anniversary and the final production year of the C6, Chevrolet offered an “open-air” version of the legendary Z06, which had historically been only available as a closed coupe.
Chevrolet cherry-picked its parts bin and assembled a very exclusive sports car. Sourced from the Z06 was the dry-sump 427 CI V-8 engine that produces 505 HP, the 6-speed rear-mounted transaxle and the carbon fiber raised hood, front fenders and floor panels. While the 60th Anniversary model has an exclusive wheel design, the wheel and tire combination was dimensionally identical to that of the ZR1, although the exact ZR1 package was offered as an option.
The frame rails were sourced from a Grand Sport, constructed out of steel versus that of aluminum, which added an additional 200 pounds of curb weight over the closed-coupe Z06 but provided the necessary structural rigidity to enable a convertible body with this elevated level of horsepower and grip. Standard equipment of the 60th Anniversary 427 convertible included Magnetic Selective Ride Control with Active Handling—a very sophisticated damping system from the ZR1 using magnetic particles to respond in milliseconds, adjusting for optimal compression and rebound in the shock absorbers. Ferrari has now adopted this same advanced technology on its select models.
Many Corvette enthusiasts regard the 60th Anniversary 427 convertible as the ultimate fusion of Z06, Grand Sport and ZR1.
