  • Finished 2nd place in Pocono and 3rd place at Lime Rock during the 1983 season

Under the hood lies a race prepped 310ci engine, believed to be a punched-out version of the original 302ci that the car utilized during its racing days. Through the side-mounted straight piped exhaust system, the engine makes a glorious rumble and sounds like it wants to be driven in anger. Mechanically, the car had so many modern features for the time to make it quite competitive including properly built tube chassis, dry sump lubrication for the engine, quick change rear end for different gearing settings, rack and pinion steering, water cooled braking system and a high-tech suspension setup.

This purpose-built Camaro competed in some of the premier tracks during the 1983 IMSA Kellygirl Challenge. In May of 1983, the car finished in 3rd place at Lime Rock during the Kelly American Challenge race with Jerry Thomspon and Don Yenko. Other notable tracks where this Camaro competed includes Daytona, Sebring, Pocono, Lime Rock, Mid-Ohio, Road Atlanta and Sears Point. After its racing season, the car was sold to Gene Felton, another IMSA driver who competed against this very Camaro. Later the car traded hands to Tom Clary, from the Yenko Registry. The car was stated to have been in storage from 1987 to 2005.

Now, part of the Robert Richardson collection, the car was kept in running condition and stored in a climate-controlled facility. The car has also recently received a new fuel cell, new battery and a new set of Hoosier race tires. Surely a wonderful opportunity to acquire a rich history, IMSA racecar driven by some pioneers of the sport.
