1982 was the first year for the American convertible after American convertible production was halted in 1976 due to safety concerns. The Riviera Convertible had a base price of an unbelievable $24,500, which was nearly $10,000 more than the standard Riviera. At the time, it was the most expensive car produced by GM and even out priced every Cadillac model. While all of the cars began life as a hardtop at the Linden, New Jersey assembly plant, they were soon on their way to American Sun Roof (ASC) in Lansing, Michigan. Here they would have the top removed, the structure strengthened and the final assembly of the convertible top mechanism, rear seat and interior appointments.

The 5.0-liter V8 runs very well and the car has only had two owners in the last 27 years. It is believed to have only about 60,000 miles from new and presents very well.
