Introduced in 1988, the Reatta was a huge undertaking by Buick to boost its image and attract buyers of smaller, more exclusive, personal luxury cars. The company went so far as to establish the Reatta Craft Center, where Reattas were built in individual stations rather than on an assembly line, moved from station-to-station by robots. Buick was so particular about the success of the Reatta that quality was paramount above all else—so much so that the paint was applied by PPG itself at the Craft Center. By 1990, a convertible entered the program to complement the coupe.
The spacey styling and powerful 3.8L V-6 engine driving the front wheels created a remarkably sporty vehicle, but it was also fairly pricey, keeping production low. Between 1988 and 1991, the final year of production, just over 21,000 Reattas were built. Of those, just over 2,000 were convertibles like this one. Powered by the 3.8L V-6 engine and an automatic transmission, this car is well equipped with power steering, air conditioning and an AM/FM/Cassette stereo system, among other niceties. It’s finished in black with a black convertible top and a gray interior. All cars being offered from this collection have been in long term storage.
Please note that any car purchased from this collection will likely require essential basic service prior to driving on the road including but not limited to fuel systems and carburetors, batteries, brakes etc. All cars are being offered at no reserve and will be sold as is/where is.
