One of just 669 produced and a part of the Del De Young Collection of classic Buicks since 1996, this 1941 Buick Series 90L Limited Limousine is such a rarity that it represents less than 0.2 percent of Buick’s 1941 production totals. Buick sales proceeded at a record-setting pace, driven in part by such innovations as dual carburetion and a new X-member chassis. Styling continued to be a major asset; Buick bodies were all new and featured a new hood-latching system that enabled opening from either side, as well as a bold, new front end with front fenders that were integrated into the body sides and extended almost to the leading edges of the front doors.

The headlights were also almost completely integrated into the front fenders, contributing to the cleaner overall front-end design that included a larger, chromed front grille with heavier horizontal bars. Running boards were dropped and replaced with contoured sills at the lower edge of the body sides. Now riding on a 139-inch wheelbase, the Series 90 Buicks were imposing automobiles that reached more than 19 feet in length and offered additional interior space. Series 90 exteriors featured chromed window surrounds and body-side strips, chromed hood vents and chromed sill moldings.

Deluxe mohair upholstery decorated the interiors, which also incorporated chromed window trim and polished wood-grain moldings. The 90L limousine once again featured folding jump seats between the front and rear seats, as well as a moving divider window between the chauffeur and rear passenger compartments, now in concert with a speaker system for communication between the two compartments. The venerated Dynaflash straight-8 OHV engine—renamed the Fireball—and a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission remained in service, now with 140 HP.

Offered complete with front and rear bumper guards, fender skirts and chromed trim rings and center caps on wide whitewall tires, this CCCA Full Classic earned an AACA Senior Award in 2000. *Contrary to the printed catalog description, this vehicle will not be offered with the BCA award
