The year 1959 was the year of change within General Motors, and every model from every division featured major upgrades. Buick led the march with radical new styling and model names, making a dramatic leap from its former self with new “Delta Wing” styling that featured sleek rooflines, slender bumpers and tasteful use of chrome and stainless. Buick’s slogan for 1959 was, “The Car: Buick 59,” and what a car it is. This 1959 Buick LeSabre Convertible is drop-dead gorgeous, to say the least. It’s an older restoration that sports an Arctic White exterior with polished stainless and chromed trim, rear fender skirts and a broad, floating front grille.

A power convertible top keeps the weather out, and power windows quickly allow the breeze in. Power comes from a 364 CI Wildcat V-8 producing 250 HP and 384 lb-ft of torque from the factory, and it is mated to a “Triple Turbine” automatic transmission. Steel wheels with wide whitewall tires and full-size wheel covers ensure power gets to the pavement, while power drum brakes help bring all 4,216 pounds of LeSabre to a halt. Dropping the top exposes the red and white Cordaveen interior with roomy front and rear bench seats, as well as a wide 120 MPH linear speedometer with dual, round multi gauges beneath.

Just dial in an oldies station on the pushbutton Sonomatic AM radio to make this ‘59 LeSabre a great car to take on a Route 66 double date.
