Addendum

Please note this vehicle being sold title in transit

Originally advertised by Buick as a car that would “light ones fire,” the exciting Buick Gran Sport utilized a 455-cid V-8 engine that breathed deep and cool through a matched set of functional hood scoops. Out of the 10,148 GS badged cars that Buick built in 1970, only 1,416 were convertibles such as this car. The GS is powered by the big-block 455-cid, 350-hp (which is commonly thought of as underrated) V-8 engine with a high-lift cam, big four-barrel carburetor and low-restriction dual exhaust. This impressive unit is mated to an automatic transmission that is mounted in the center console between bucket seats. The rear end has Posi-traction and 3.42:1 gearing. The drivetrain is reported as being correct for this GS 455.

The GS is enhanced with the aforementioned functional hood scoops on its air induction hood, heavy-duty suspension, pushbutton radio with 8-track tape, tachometer, sport steering wheel, original grille, Soft-Ray tinted glass, tissue dispenser; power top, steering and brakes. It is quite fast and considered a true American musclecar. It more than looks the part, displaying its uncluttered lines in Fire Red with black interior and convertible top, and it also sports the factory chromed steel 15 x 7 Super Sport wheels.

This particular car has been with the same family since new; this family owns an eastern Buick dealership and the car has been documented by Buick’s Sloan Museum as being produced in September 1969 with Code 75 Fire Red paint. The car has been upgraded to a Stage 1 tribute with the proper exterior nameplates, chrome valve covers, underhood decals and more to be “exactly like the original” and that “you cannot tell the car from an original Stage 1.”

Please note that the VIN indicates this car to be an actual GS 455 (second and third characters are “46” which according to reliable records equates to GS 455). The GS 455 looks fantastic and drives excellent; the owner is confident that this may be the best one an interested buyer may find in the current market. It has been driven sparingly and has abundant performance. Being a one-family-dealership-owned version only adds to the uncommon nature of this respected Buick muscle machine.
