One might think the thrifty LeSabre was more expensive than it was or not realize the Invicta had a Wildcat under the hood, but no one would dare mistake this award-winning 1959 Buick Electra 225 Convertible for anything but the most powerful and luxurious of its upscale line. This exceptional Buick Electra 225 won five prestigious Antique Automobile Club of America titles from 2010 to 2016, including Best Post War Buick and Grand National First Place. After earning a judged score of 392 out of 400 total points, the Electra took home the Buick Nationals Gold honors in 2015.
Luxury meets performance under the hood with a 401 CI Wildcat V-8 engine rated for 325 HP and 445 lb-ft of torque with a 4-barrel carburetor and factory dual exhaust. The engine is backed by a Twin-Turbine Dynaflow automatic transmission that channels fluid power to the Buick torque-tube rear axle and rear wheels. All coil-spring suspension with power steering and power brakes featuring Buick-exclusive fin-cooled aluminum front and cast-iron rear drums work with the Electra, only with a wider wheel and tire package for topflight high-performance road control. Embossed Super Deluxe wheel covers with gold-finish centers add measured elegance.
Lowering the power convertible top reveals a luxurious red interior with hand-buffed top-grain leather seats and power windows. Factory air conditioning joins automatic heat and fresh-air control with power-operated vents for four-season comfort. The optional signal-seeking Wonderbar radio with dash-operated power antenna and glovebox-mounted portable transistor radio provide entertainment inside and out. The Electra was optioned with an Autronic Eye that casts its tireless gaze through the Vista-Panoramic windshield and automatically switches between high and low beams, along with a Speed Safety Buzzer that automatically warns against excessive speed and unwanted penalties.
