Addendum

Please note that due to California emissions, this vehicle must be sold to a dealer or out-of-state resident.

It would be easy to associate the BMW Z8 with other retro-revival cars of the 1990s and early 2000s, but that was hardly the case; BMW had already honored its past with the sporty Z3 roadster, after all. The Z8 instead married the muscular V-8 engine from BMW's M division with the considerable design talent of lead exterior pen Henrik Fisker. This was to be the company's halo car, boldly launching BMW into the 21st Century.

The Z8, nearly identical to the Z07 show car from the 1997 Tokyo Motor Show, was unlike any BMW since the M1. Its styling evoked the BMW 507—the design icon that nearly bankrupted the fledgling automaker in the 1950s. Under its sumptuous curves sat an M5-sourced S62 4.9-liter V-8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The Z8 had the power to back up its stunning styling.

Around 5,700 examples were built over a three-year run, after the Z8 made its silver screen debut in the 1999 James Bond blockbuster

The World is Not Enough

. Following the Z3's role in

Goldeneye

, the Z8 starred in a short but memorable scene with Agent 007 behind the wheel—captivating fans worldwide and proving that BMW was a force to be reckoned with. The Z8 is undoubtedly one of the most desirable modern BMWs, and it holds a place in the hearts of many BMW enthusiasts for its retro styling, exciting performance, and wonderful driving dynamics.

Hand-built by the factory in Munich, Germany, this BMW Z8 was completed in May 2001 destined for the United States market. It was delivered new via BMW of North Haven, Connecticut, according to the window sticker copy on file. Cloaked in Black over Black leather trim, the car has remained in like-new condition, having only accumulated 17 miles at the time of cataloguing.

Offering an exceptional level of preservation, the car is accompanied by a factory hardtop, cell phone with boxed accessories, spare key, manuals in pouch, navigation disc, audio demonstration disc, hard top boot with bag, wind deflector, tool roll, and first aid kit. Quite possibly one of the lowest-mileage BMW Z8s on the planet, this is a compelling example of BMW’s flagship sports car ideal to show, drive, and enjoy.
