Following the deletion of the much loved '6' series, BMW upped its game with the successor '8' series models. Developed by BMW's Motorsport division (as it then was) and intended as flagships for the company's advanced technology, the first of these multi-cylinder sports coupés arrived in 1989. Introduced in October 1992, the top-of-the-range 850CSi boasted an extensively modified 5.6-litre V12 engine carrying the legend 'Powered by M' - a reference to BMW's high-performance division. As one would expect of a range-topping BMW, build quality was exemplary.

Although now out of production for 20 years, the '8' series was blessed with classically proportioned, understated and essentially timeless styling that has not dated, and these beautiful and exclusive Gran Turismos still look modern today.

Supplied new in Germany by BMW Niederlassung, München, this 850CSi is one of only 1,510 examples sold worldwide. Currently displaying a total of 102,114km on the odometer, the BMW is described by the vendor as in either good or very good condition in every department, its engine starting easily and emitting no smoke. Accompanying documentation consists of the owner's handbook, stamped service book, and sundry invoices. Previously registered in France, the car is currently registered in the UK and comes with a V5C document.
