Bringing the benefits of four-wheel drive to a passenger car, rather than larger trucks and off-roaders, the quattro helped turn Audi into a household name and continues to influence their products to this day. In European specification, the quattro’s initial 2.1-litre inline five-cylinder turbocharged engine turned out nearly 200 hp, combining performance and practicality in a wonderful package.

The accompanying service book shows that this quattro was delivered new to Madrid in October of 1984, having been built earlier that month. The only service stamp shows it was serviced at the same dealer in October of 1989 with approximately 25,000 km on its odometer. Passing through the Netherlands, it was purchased by its current owner in 2017 and subsequently imported to Switzerland. Currently showing just over 42,000 km from new, an oil change was carried out in September of 2018, and the car has remained in storage since as the only quattro within the Youngtimer Collection.

Widely celebrated for their links to the Sport quattros that enjoyed so much success in Group B rallying, the quattro has become an icon for a generation of enthusiast and this example would be best enjoyed on open (or dirt) roads.

La Quattro a étendu aux véhicules particuliers le bénéfice des quatre roues motrices, jusqu'alors réservé aux camions et aux véhicules tout-terrain. Elle a beaucoup fait pour la notoriété d'Audi et continue à influencer ses produits. Dans sa version européenne, son premier moteur, un cinq-cylindres en ligne turbo de 2,1 litres, délivrait près de 200 chevaux, ce qui assurait à ce merveilleux véhicule performance et fonctionnalité.

Son carnet d'entretien montre que cette Quattro fut livrée neuve à Madrid en octobre 1984, après être sortie d'usine plus tôt dans le mois. Le seul tampon apposé fait apparaître qu'un entretien fut effectué chez le même concessionnaire en octobre 1989 alors qu'elle avait environ 25 000 km au compteur. En 2017, elle fut acquise en Hollande par son propriétaire actuel puis importée en Suisse. Elle affiche maintenant à peine plus de 42 000 km et a fait l'objet d'une vidange d'huile en septembre 2018. Elle est depuis restée stockée dans cette collection de Youngtimers, dont elle est la seule Quattro.

La Quattro a été très appréciée pour sa parenté avec les Quattro Sport qui ont connu tant de succès dans les rallyes du Groupe B, et elle est devenue la voiture-culte de toute une génération de passionnés. C'est sur route ouverte ou sur terre que cet exemplaire se fera le mieux apprécier.
