Enrico Fumia of Pininfarina's low slung wedge design with high 'kammtail' was reminiscent of his earlier Audi-based Pininfarina Quartz prototype of 1981. The striking lines of the new Grand Turismo Veloce (GTV) and Spiders, revealed at Geneva Salon in 1995, earned countless prestigious design awards from most motoring quarters. Characteristically, the car features concealed headlamps, designed in conjunction with Carello, mounted beneath a clamshell bonnet with illumination port-holes. Build quality was notably a close match to its German rivals and the GTV/Spider helped considerably with rejuvenating Alfa Romeo's reputation for beautiful design and quality crafted sportscars. The year 2000, two-litre cars were fitted with an upgraded twin-cam engine with 153bhp.

First registered on 1st August 1997, this stunning Alfa Romeo 2.0 Twin-Spark 16v Spider is a special order example from Alfa Romeo which included a tan hood and wood trim, and is presented in the very best colour combination of black coachwork over a tan interior. The twin-spark engine is seen by many as the better handling option over the V6 due to the lighter nose and torque responsive drive provided by one of Alfa Romeos best-selling engines. The current owner has lavished time in assuring this little spider is in very good condition, during the last 12 months the Alfa has been treated to works including a new fuel pump, thermostat and four new tyres.

It also benefits from a recent extensive service and MoT with no advisories and is reported to run and drive very well! Offered with a history file including the current UK registration document, previous MoT test certificates, and various sundry bills. Showing just 6,300 miles from new this superb Alfa is a great example of a modern classic, perfect for drop-top driving with Italian flair included. With summer fast approaching this example will be just as at home on the road as it will in any classic car collection. Consigned by Daniel Godin
