Ram Recalls Nearly 1.3 Million Ram 1500 Pickups Over Seatbelt Concern

Ram has announced a major voluntary safety recall affecting 1,271,294 Ram 1500 pickup trucks from the 2019–2026 model years. The campaign was launched after the automaker discovered that some vehicles may have left the factory with improperly secured rear seatbelt buckle anchors, creating a potential safety risk for passengers.

According to Ram, the issue involves the driver-side and center seats in the second row. The seatbelt buckle anchors on these positions may not have been correctly attached to the vehicle's body structure during production. If a collision occurs, the belts may not perform as intended, increasing the risk of injury while also failing to comply with federal safety standards.

The recall extends beyond the United States. Ram estimates that an additional 156,138 vehicles in Canada and approximately 74,084 vehicles in Mexico may also be affected, making this one of the brand's largest recent safety campaigns.

Owners of impacted trucks will receive official notification instructing them to schedule a visit to an authorized dealership. Technicians will inspect the rear seatbelt mounting points and, if necessary, properly secure the buckle anchors to the vehicle structure. All inspection and repair work will be completed free of charge.

Ram has also confirmed that the required documentation will be submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Once the recall becomes official, owners will be able to verify whether their truck is included using the agency's online recall database.
