Honda is pushing the 2027 Honda Passport TrailSport further into off-road territory. The changes go well beyond simply making the SUV look tougher: engineers extensively reworked its suspension to add 1.38 inches of ground clearance, bringing the total to 9.7 inches.
The redesign affects roughly 70 percent of the suspension, including new springs, dampers, and stabilizer bars. Honda also revised the front subframe and driveshafts to preserve proper geometry and keep the Passport’s road manners intact. Approach and departure angles improve by two degrees, while the breakover angle gains three degrees.
The exterior gets a subtle attitude boost as well, with larger fender flares and twin amber LEDs integrated into the hood scoop. TrailWatch cameras and a heated steering wheel are now standard across the TrailSport range, while Smoke Blue Pearl replaces Obsidian Blue Pearl.
With TrailSport versions already accounting for more than 80 percent of Passport sales, Honda clearly sees demand for a more capable SUV.
Could the new setup make the Passport a serious 4Runner alternative? Would you take it off-road or keep it on the pavement? And does the tougher design actually improve its appeal?
