The 1984 Ford F-150 has been transformed into something that looks like it escaped straight from Mad Max: The Road Warrior. Built as a replica of Lord Humungus’s infamous vehicle, this six-wheeled wasteland machine is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer.
The project was created by Mad Max Cars, a Tacoma-based specialist known for building movie-inspired replicas. Underneath the extreme bodywork is a 5.8-liter V-8 that originally produced around 200 hp. It may not be particularly fast, but this machine was never built to win a drag race.
Instead, it comes equipped with a PA system for broadcasting threats, a single-seat cabin, space for cargo—and, most importantly, exhaust pipes capable of shooting flames. The oversized rear spoiler may not generate meaningful downforce either, but it certainly completes the post-apocalyptic look.
Compared with something sensible like a 2027 Toyota Prius, the Humungus Machine obviously loses the fuel-economy battle. But does the Prius have six wheels and flamethrower exhaust? Would you actually drive this on the street? And is there a better vehicle for a Mad Max fan?
