The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray pairs its new 6.7-liter LS6 V-8 with 40 extra horsepower and 50 more pound-feet than the old 6.2-liter LT2. Does that translate into a major performance leap? Not quite: a Z51-equipped car reaches 60 mph in 2.7 seconds, just 0.1 second ahead of the 2020 model. It runs the quarter-mile in 11.0 seconds at 124 mph, but its 183-mph top speed trails the earlier Z51 by 1 mph. Both stop from 70 mph in 149 feet, and skidpad grip is nearly identical: 1.02 g versus 1.03. The new car is 55 pounds heavier and returns one mpg less across the board. Its reward? A louder V-8 at idle and redline, while cruising is slightly quieter. Is the modest acceleration gain worth the richer soundtrack?
