Change E-Class 4MATIC transfer case oil according to the service requirements for its specific transmission. If leakage or contamination is found, establish the cause first. There is no single interval for every generation. A rear-wheel-drive version has no all-wheel-drive transfer case and does not require this operation.

This table does not cover every E-Class variant. Establish requirements for series 212 and any unlisted configuration from its assembly data. Two approvals in one row are not permission to mix products.
How to Establish the Replacement Schedule
Find the precise operation in the VIN-specific service sheet: inspection, level check or replacement. Where mileage and time limits are specified, account for both. An approval number from the table above does not establish an interval, and a service reminder does not replace the list of additional operations.
If maintenance history is missing, ask for an assessment of condition and leakage before agreeing on the applicable procedure. A generic online recommendation does not establish the factory interval for your transmission.
