The main service order was opened on June 30, 2026. The detailing, paint protection film, and wheel refinishing were covered by a separate order dated July 10, 2026.

The car’s recorded mileage at the time of the work was 21,815 km.

Comprehensive Inspection with an Endoscope

Before the work began, the car underwent a comprehensive inspection that included an internal engine check using an endoscope.

Four labor hours were allocated to this inspection:

• comprehensive vehicle inspection with an endoscope — AED 1,960.

This type of inspection helps assess the car’s condition before a major service and determine which additional repairs are required.

Major Service

The major service included replacement of the engine oil, all main filters, brake fluid, and spark plugs.

The work took five labor hours:

Valve Cover Gasket Replacement

One of the most labor-intensive jobs was replacing the left and right valve cover gaskets.

The work also included replacing the fuel injector seals and took ten labor hours:

• valve cover gasket and injector seal replacement — AED 4,900.

The following parts were required:

• first valve cover gasket — AED 123.20;
• second valve cover gasket — AED 121.60;

Key Battery Replacement

The key battery was replaced, with the battery itself included in the price:

It is a small item compared with the rest of the bill, but it was included in the service order.

Fuel Filler Cap Replacement

The fuel filler cap was replaced:

Right Mirror Mechanism Repair

Multimedia and Mirror Heating Inspection

The multimedia system and side-mirror heating unit also underwent an in-depth inspection.

The inspection took 2.5 hours at a rate of AED 540 per hour:

Carbon-Fiber Engine Bay Panels

The most expensive individual part in the entire order was a set of carbon-fiber panels for the Mercedes-Benz SLS.

• interior restoration, eight hours — AED 2,400;
• polishing before applying the paint protection film, four hours — AED 0;
• complete interior detailing, eight hours — AED 880.

The subtotal before VAT was AED 5,680. The 5% VAT was AED 284. The total was AED 5,964.

The strip-and-fit work and preparatory polishing were included at no additional charge.

Removing the Old Paint Protection Film

Before applying the new film, the old paint protection film had to be removed.

Ten labor hours were allocated to this job:

• removal of the old PPF — AED 3,500.

Removing old film is a separate and labor-intensive process. The car’s surface must be completely cleared of the old material before polishing and installation of the new protective layer.

New Premium PPF Package

A new premium paint protection film package was then applied to the car.

Window Tinting

How Much Does It Cost to Service an SLS at 21,000 km?

If we count only the mechanical service, inspection, repairs, and parts, the total came to AED 39,494.68 including VAT.

When the full cosmetic restoration, detailing, replacement paint protection film, window tinting, and wheel refinishing are added, the complete budget increases to AED 72,233.68 including VAT.

If the complete amount is divided by the car’s 21,815 km mileage, it works out to approximately AED 3.31 per kilometer. The mechanical portion alone is equivalent to approximately AED 1.81 per kilometer.

Conclusion

At first glance, 21,815 km is a very low mileage for a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT. However, the cost of maintaining a car like this depends on much more than mileage. The age of the car, the condition of its seals, the operation of its electrical mechanisms, and the condition of its bodywork, interior, and protective film can all make up a significant part of the total budget.

In this case, the standard major service with oil, filters, spark plugs, and brake fluid cost AED 4,799.64 before VAT. Once the valve cover gaskets, parking brake actuator, mirror repairs, carbon-fiber panels, and diagnostics were added, the mechanical estimate increased to AED 39,494.68 including VAT.
